National Park of American Samoa

Size: 13,500 acres (9,500 land, 4,000 marine)
Located roughly 2,600 miles southwest of Hawaii, American Samoa, a United States territory, comprises ten volcanic islands (five inhabited) and two coral atolls (one inhabited).
The National Park of American Samoa is a National Park in the United States Territory of American Samoa, distributed across three separate islands: Tutuila, Ofu, and Ta‘ū. The park preserves and protects coral reefs, tropical rainforests, fruit bats, and the Samoan culture. It is popular for hiking and snorkeling. Of the park's 13,500 acres (5,500 ha), 9,000 acres (3,600 ha) is land and 4,500 acres (1,800 ha) is coral reefs and ocean.[3] The park is the only American National Park Service system unit south of the equator.

Ofu-Olosega

Ofu and Olosega are parts of a volcanic doublet in the Manu‘a Group of the Samoan Islands—part of American Samoa. The twin islands, formed from shield volcanoes, have a combined length of 6 km and an area of 12 square kilometers (5 square miles); their population is about 500 people. They are geographic volcanic remnants separated by the narrow 137-meter-wide (449-foot) Asaga strait, a natural bridge of shallow coral reef. Before 1970, one had to wade between the two islands at low tide; now a single-lane road bridge over the strait connects villages on Ofu island with those on Olosega.
Olosega Island is a remnant of the Sili shield volcano, the caldera of which may lie submerged off the north shore.
The volcanic eruption of 1866 was actually 3 km (1.9 mi) east of Olosega, on a submarine ridge that extends east southeast to nearby Ta‘ū.
The island forms the Olosega County subdivision of the Manua District. It has a land area of 5.163 km²

It's a small museum but we found it interesting and they are renovating at present so it will be better. The lady working there was so friendly and gave us lots of information on the local history and explained the different artefacts and the story behind many of the photos. It's a free museum and well worth a short visit.
The museum is located on the north side of Route 1 in Fagatogo, American Samoa, roughly opposite the main post office. The building in which it is located, formerly Navy Building 43 of Naval Station Tutuila.

America Samoa is an unincorporated territory of the United States comprising 76 square miles, five volcanic islands and two atolls in the South Pacific Ocean. America Samoa National Park, where some of the best hiking is found, spreads across three of these islands:  Tutuila, Ta’ū and Ofu.
We zig-zagged down the mountain and the steps back from Mount Alava to the Vatia road and came across some National Park signage describing plate tectonics and the formation of islands, as well as many of the different plants and animals present on the island.

Massacre Bay

A marvellous 4km hiking trail (allow four hours return) leads from the scenic village of A’oloaufou down to A’asu on Massacre Bay. Its foreboding name was given after a deadly skirmish (1787) between French sailors and Samoan villagers.
The track begins near the community garden in A’oloaufou. It’s often overgrown, extremely muddy and difficult to navigate, particularly on the climb back up. Hikers should consider hiring a guide in A’oloaufou (between US$5 and US$10).
